About OGL

Information

The Organic Geochemistry Laboratory (OGL) at UIC was established in 1996 to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic matter in earth material to solve questions of geological and environmental relevance.  The OGL is equipped to isolate, quantify, identify and characterize isotopically organic matter and lipids from living organisms, modern and ancient sediments as well as fossil fuel (coal and petroleum). Research projects in the Organic Geochemistry Laboratory are supported by external funding.
