Jie Wang teaches in the Department of Managerial Studies and the MBA Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also coordinates the Managerial Communications team. He received his Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota in 1990 and began teaching at UIC in the same year. Among the courses he has taught are Managerial Communication, Advanced Managerial Communication, Managerial Communication for MBAs, Writing for Corporate Organizations, Introduction to Language Study, Introduction to General Linguistics, Languages of the World, Language and Society, and corporate training classes.

Professor Wang was a consultant to Amoco Corporation from 1992 to 1998 and participated in the production of corporate communication, business, and legal documents for its China operations, including annual reports, newsletters, speeches, agreements, contracts, presentations, brochures, videos, and advertisements. He also assisted senior executives with hosting Chinese government and industry officials and advised Amoco on cross-cultural communications.

Dr. Wang has been a communications consultant at First Analysis Corporation, a highly regarded financial services firm in Chicago providing public equity research, investment banking, and private capital management for institutional clients. He has also worked at a software company based in Chicago.
