Jie Wang teaches in the Department of Managerial Studies and the MBA Program
at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also coordinates the Managerial
Communications team. He received his Ph.D. from the University
of North Dakota in 1990 and began teaching at UIC in the same year. Among the
courses he has taught are Managerial Communication, Advanced Managerial Communication,
Managerial Communication for MBAs, Writing for Corporate Organizations, Introduction
to Language Study, Introduction to General Linguistics, Languages of the World,
Language and Society, and corporate training classes.
Professor Wang was a senior consultant to Amoco Corporation from 1992 to 1998 and participated in the production of corporate communication, business, and legal documents for its China operations, including annual reports, newsletters, speeches, agreements, contracts, presentations, brochures, videos, and advertisements. Additionally, he assisted executives with hosting Chinese government and industry officials and advised Amoco on cross-cultural communications. Dr. Wang has also consulted for General Motors and other companies.
