Research Interests:
Contexts that promote successful comprehension and
problem
solving. I am interested in qualitative effects of expertise,
experience
or knowledge on cognitive processing, the impact of collaboration on
learning
and problem solving, and the application of such findings to
instruction
and design of learning environments.
In a related line of research, I am investigating what
allows people
to solve creative problems more effectively, and how to help solvers
get
out of mental ruts that they encounter when they try to use routine
solution
paths.
