The Rules
- Rule 0: There are times where rules need to be broken. Experience tells you when.
- Rule 1: There is rarely a simple answer to a complicated question. However, there is often a series of simple answers to a complicated question, which is far better than a complicated answer.
- Rule 2: There is always a simple, quick and incorrect answer. Avoid.
- Rule 3: There are days where complicated answers are correct. Cope.
- Rule 4: You can have too many backups. It's really hard to do so, though.
- Rule 5: You can have too few backups. And, right now, you probably do.
- Rule 6: People who mindlessly quote Monty Python gags aren't that funny.
- Rule 7: Work the problem. In that regard, just go ahead and assign blame at the start of the day. That way, when a problem comes up, you've already done the blame thing, and you can get on with fixing it.
- Rule 8: Those who think Rule 1 should have mentioned a smiling old man should read "Terry Pratchett" for "Monty Python" in Rule 6.
- Rule 9: There's always more rules. Go find them. For is it not written, "You just made that up, didn't you?"
- Rule 10: See Rule 0.
