Welcome to the home page of Bruce L. Lambert, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Pharmacy Administration, University of Illinois at Chicago. Here you will find information on my research, teaching and service activities as well as information about my colleagues and students. My current research is primarily focused on medication safety. Within that broad category, I am working on one project to understand auditory drug name confusion errors and another that focuses on optimizing prescribing. I am director of the newly established Center for Education on Research and Therapeutics (CERT) at UIC, which is one of 14 centers nationwide funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The theme of our center is Tools for Optimizing Prescribing, Monitoring and Education (TOP-MED). I am also co-chair of the National Patient Safety Foundation's research committee. I teach in both the professional (pharmacy) curriculum as well as in our graduate program. In both contexts, my teaching focuses on the social and behavioral aspects of pharmacy and medication use, with a special emphasis on chronic illness and its impact on self-identity. When I'm not being a college professor, I am a singer and guitar player. You can listen to songs from my albums on the music page. If there is something you can't find here, or if you just want to talk one-on-one, drop me a line and let me know.
