Karen
Drill is currently a doctoral student in Educational Psychology.
She received an AB in Politics from Princeton University in 1994, and
a MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University in 1999. Prior
to enrolling at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Karen worked
as a Program Coordinator at the Center for Talent Development (CTD) at
Northwestern University where she was the primary administrator for a
summer academic program for gifted students in grades PreK-12. At CTD,
Karen developed curriculum, hired and trained staff and teachers, enrolled
students, oversaw the residential and academic elements of the program,
and updated publications. Additionally, she created psycho-educational
groups where parents could learn about and discuss anxiety, depression,
perfectionism, social concerns, and a host of other topics. Karen’s
academic interests include social and emotional development, violence
prevention, the impact of culture on psychological development, service
learning, and social justice.
