Golden Rule in Lab Class

From my experience, without asserting some rules at the beginning of the semester, chaos is unavoilable. I hope every students in IDS 100 will read these rules carefully and follow these rules through the whole semester. Thank you for your cooperation.

  1. No makeup. We say it again, no makeup except that something happens that is out of your control. The excuses such as "car broken", "I forget the test", "I have to work", "I got interview" and "My pet is ill" will not be accepted. If you are ill, give us the proof from doctor. If you get car accident, we need the police report. You are welcomed to contact us in advance by E-mail if you can not take the lab quiz, but we do have the right to reject your request if we find the reason is unacceptable.
  2. Normally we don't allow students to change sections, because it will make our checking attendence very difficult. We highly recommend that you attend the lab class you have registered. If you do need to change section sometime because things happen, you should contact your TA in advance. But we don't allow students to change sections if we have lab quiz in that week.
  3. One week policy. After each lab quiz scores are posted on the web, you have about one week to contact your TA if you have some questions about the grading. After one week, the scores can not be changed any more.
  4. We will check attendence randomly. Attendence rate lower than 50% will result in your grade being reduced by one letter grade and attendence lower than 80% will result in fail. You should sign your name when we check attendence. Giving us a E-mail after class, saying that you forget to sign your name on the attendence sheet is totally useless.
