Summer Transition and Enrichment Program (STEP) Overview The Summer
Transition and Enrichment Program curriculum has been designed to offer
students a strong foundation in math and reading comprehension and writing
prior to their first semester at UIC. During this six-week program, students
will also take part in a Monday Symposium designed to provide them with an
opportunity to establish peer networks with fellow students; meet UIC
instructors, advisors and current students; and, become acquainted with the
numerous support services found throughout campus. Upon
completion of the Summer Transition and Enrichment Program, students are
extended an opportunity to enroll in the LARES Academic Skills Program (ASP).
ASP courses are designed to continue assisting students with the development
of their English and math skills, while simultaneously preparing them for
their ongoing college-level courses. (Placement in ASP courses will be
determined by LARES counselor recommendation or placement exam results.) |
