The History of Architecture and Art

Renaissance to the Present

Spring, 2007

Peter Hales, Professor

Welcome to the Website for this course. Below are the most salient links. The syllabus includes the requirements for the course and a schedule of lectures. The lists are keyed to the individual lectures in the class; they may be revised immediately after the lecture in question, so return to them for review. Among the lists will eventually be the review lists for the midterm and final. The guide is a set of suggestions for thriving in the class– not just getting a good grade, but actually enjoying the encounters with the art, architecture and lecturers. The visual analysis document is a training manual in learning to look critically at works of architecture and art. Finally, the imagebank is a container of many, many images, including most of those shown or discussed in this class. You can use it for review or to browse a visual history of architecture and art.
