New Sites on the Web for American Studies Teachers, Researchers and Students
Remember: this is an evolving page. As new sites appear, we'll check them and put up the relevant ones. But we need your help! Some sites originate in your own countries and in your languages-- let us know! In addition, you may find sites that we haven't-- pass them on to us, please, so we can add them.
American Studies As of Fall, 2004, one of the most significant of American Studies sites has been undergoing an overhaul: the American Studies Association's Electronic Crossroads site. The old site is still up, with all its sprawling information, interconnections, misspellings and meanderings; don't give up on it! The new site offers a far richer and more productive search system, and while it doesn't look as content-rich as the older site, it's really just hidden further in the site.

TESOL, the official organization for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, has recently rebuilt its website, too. This site looks as if all the information is reserved for dues-paying members-- but don't be fooled! Run the cursor around that opening page, especially the top bar and the bar on the right marked "resources," and you'll find that many gems pop up. The "Professional Issues" button on the top bar, for example, can lead you through "standards" to a proposed set of ESL standards for students from kindergarten through high school -- and that's just one little entry on a long list. The "Secondary" button in "Resources" on the right side, too, will open up a host of documents. |
