These pictures come from trips back and forth across the border between the United States and Mexico, at San Ysidro, California and Tijuana, Mexico, in 1992. At the time, much was being made of pro- and anti-immigration groups clashing at the border, and also of violent and unscrupulous guides who took advantage of those who wished to cross into the United States without legal status.
